Montoya Mission UPDATE #6

Hello from Tonga!
We have left Papua New Guinea and have now started our Tongan outreach. The leadership conference in PNG was a success. Many pastors and community leaders from the Gulf Province took in sound biblical instruction for leadership back to their churches, villages and workplaces.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM PNG
• People were extremely generous and welcoming of the “white missionaries”
• We participateed in the conference and taught on “Hearing God’s Voice,” “Lordship," and "Destiny”
• We participated in skits, dramas, and singing for the conference and in churches
• We traveled by dingy (boat) to different villages to do ministry
• Emilia preached her first sermon to the youth
• Richard also preached in villages and gave testimonies
• Isabelle gave testimony after testimony in churches and in open air markets
• We were able to pray over people for healing, salvation and forgiveness
• We shared testimonies and performed skits in the high school and elementary schools
• Betty helped organized an HIV/AIDS counsel and provided teaching and instruction
• Betty also was part of a womens ministry team, doing teachings and encouragement
• Many relationships were developed especially through Gabriel, Emilia, and Isabelle
• Our farewell at the airport was made up of hugs and weeping, as hundreds came from different villages to give us gifts, their addresses and to show their love, care and appreciation

CHALLENGES OF PNG
• Unbearably hot!
• Betty, Emilia and Isabelle contracted malaria and were treated
• Many from our team had various illnesses and heat exhaustion
• Living conditions took an adjustment with tight quarters
• We arrived in the wet season so we had to adjust with the weather conditions especially in travel (walking)

We are now ministering in Tonga. We have and will be going to hospitals, homes for disabled, door to door evangelism, radio and television ministry and much more. We will be here for another 3 weeks and then we head back to Perth, where we will have time to report back and debrief and prepare for our next stage at YWAM. Thank you for your prayers and support. We miss every one of you!
