Montoya Mission UPDATE #8

Greetings,

Well do you remember while we were in Tonga we applied for a new temporary one year resident Australian visa. Our current student visa expired July 20, 2009. We are required to leave Australia and re-enter on the new visa.

We just heard word today that our new visa has been granted.

We are now in Singapore. We went ahead and purchased tickets to Singapore without any accommodations set, but believing that someway, somehow God would provide for us with much prayer and support by many, including you. We were directed to a family on base from Singapore that had a friend whose father had space upstairs in his flat. Three days before we came to Singapore we got word that this wonderful stranger was willing to host our family of five. God is so faithful!

Some important news about our family health. Richard has been feeling sick and got worse when we arrived in Singapore. The day we arrived we went to the doctor, who referred us to a hospital for blood tests. Richard tested positive for malaria and the doctors wanted to admit him. Against doctors recommendation, we brought Richard back to the house and Betty is nursing him back to health. He has been given Chloroquine (malaria treatment) and we will bring him back to the hospital after finishing the treatment to make sure the malaria is gone. The concern has been that the malaria has been growing since we were in PNG (the only place he could have caught it) and that it hides in the liver. Our host family has been incredible in their care for Richard and our family. Richard is very weak and will not be able to travel back to Perth right now so we need your prayers for full and fast recovery now that our visa has come thru and we can go back to base in Perth.

When we get back to Perth, Richard as been accepted on staff with Create International, a ministry of Youth With A Mission that specializes in the production of media tools to communicate the gospel of Jesus Christ to unreached people groups in the world. You can find more information about Create International at http://www.createinternational.com/. Betty has started her training in the BAS School (Birth Attendant School) which has enrolled 16 students with 6 leaders. She has loved every minute of it. The kids will be back continuing school after a well deserved break.

Thank you again for your prayers and support for us. We miss you. We love you.

Blessings,

The Montoya's

  1. I guess the malaria could possibly account for why Dave was wearing you out while we were in AU.
